I don't honestly think it is a thing "most people" have, the way epileptics do; the other reason I know of for phantom smells is schizophrenia. Definitely not saying you have that, I wouldn't have a clue about that, it's just one of the reasons.

I don't hear voices but when I try to sleep, I do. But that's normal. I have had millions of times when I had sleep paralysis and that could be linked in with epilepsy.
