Just an additional note to Allthegirls6. Waiting lists for operations in the UK are very short now - under New Labour it's the law that no-one waits longer than 6 months, and the lists are actually very much shorter, about 2 or 3 months at the most. My sister has just had an op and she got her admission less than two months after the initial consultation. All good news.

Yes, it's terrific to receive free healthcare and I'm surprised that the richest country in the world (USA) hasn't yet got it together in that respect, probably because it smacks of socialist tendencies. What a shame for the poor and sick. It's a travesty of so-called freedom.
