I get hypnopompic hallucinations. They used to really freak me out till I learned that they are ok, and that "normal" people can have them too. So, no worries, it's not a BP thing, which I hope sets your mind at ease.
I get what you're saying... they're so very real that it's hard not to think you've gone around the bend (so to speak). I remember one particular time when I was having them a lot. My ex definitely thought I'd lost it when he awoke to see me standing on the bed with my hands on the ceiling. I was hallucinating that it wasn't there and was open to the sky. I SAW it, you know?! And not just a glimpse. I think the most disconcerting thing (is this your experience too?) is that you see it awake. You
know you're awake, thinking about it as you see it, reaching out or even walking and there it is, right in front of you. Except it isn't.
