Going along with the theme of natural remedies, there is a product called Rescue Remedy that my family has found helpful. It is a mix of Bach flower essences. It is taken in very small quantities with a dropper and works pretty quickly. It is safe for children, pets, and pregnancy (it's all I used when I gave birth to my youngest child). It can be a little pricey, but you use such a small amount that it lasts a long time. It contains about the same amount of alcohol as a strong mouthwash, but the alcohol is just the method of extracting the flower essences. You literally use about four drops on your tongue. You can find it online and in many natural food stores.
