It's so hard when things like this happen- I'm so sorry, and I hope they will find your check ASAP and get this straightened out! I know you absolutely don't need any extra stress. My thoughts are sure with you.

I guess on the plus side, the folks at the insurance company sound like they were nice. It's not a nice situation, but I'm glad they were trying to help to resolve the situation. I hope it just works out really quick.
