Unfortunately you're not alone with the ignorant-parent thing. My therapist was sure I had major depression and recommended seeing a psychiatrist but my parents didn't think it was necessary. Saw my first psychiatrist when I woke up in the hospital, was diagnosed and prescribed zoloft, which my dad pressured me into stopping after a few weeks. Now I'm in college, still depressed, back to where I started. I agree with what Dragonfly said, your (and my) parents will probably never understand, it is up to us to get ourselves whatever treatment we need... it's just that money is so hard to come by.. especially for college students... job market being where it is.. ugh.. best of luck to you
