I'm not officially diagnosed with Asperger's, but I have had my suspicions. My son does autism though. Anyway, I remember taking conversations literally in High School. A teacher was planning a bake sale. She had told the class to keep it simple and to just go buy a box of cake mix from the store. I literally took a box of cake mix to the bake sale and didn't understand why they laughed. I eventually figured it out and felt rather stupid. I laugh about it now, but I often wonder how many other events there where that I may not have caught. Interestingly, I now teach ELA and especially enjoy teaching figurative language. Go figure
