I haven't noticed it so much being a male/female things as it being in someone's energy, could be male or female. Even my own dogs might respond more or less to anyone else energy depending on how someone carries themselves, but does not seem to have anything to do with them being male or female. I had a guy roommate once with a Lab that the Lab listened more to me than he did his owner, cuddled more with me than my roommate, and heeled naturally. I felt absolutely terrible. Then when I moved back in with my folks at one point, all of my dogs started listening more to my father than they did to me and were right by his side; was heart wrenching but interesting to see. Ironically now my neighbors dogs come to me without asking, listen to commands without hesitation, and want so much affection that we joke I should adopt them. It depends on the person, the dog(s), and the relationship(s).
