SSRI's are sometimes prescribed for people with panic disorders, as well as OCD and of course depression.

The common dose for OCD is titrating up to 60/mg per day. For panic it is titrating up to 20mg per day.

80mg per day is generally more of a depression level dose, but I'm sure your p.doc has a good reason for prescribing that amount.

Personally, I was on Zoloft (another SSRI) for a time to help control both my depression and my anxiety,but I discontinued it due to sexual side effects which actually made my anxiety worse.
