This is my understanding as well.

What makes mixed episodes so dangerous is that you are more likely to act on your depressive thoughts (do something dangerous, drastic) when you are in a (hypo) manic state and have the associated energy/motivation.

However, please don't take that as anyone here saying that what you are going through as not being serious. I'm sure this is awful for you (to say the least) and if you have a p.doc then you should try and get in touch with them as soon as possible. And don't be afraid to seek out an urgent care facility or call 911 if your thoughts become dark in any way.

I can only imagine that extreme anxiety/panic mixed with mania could be every bit as bad or dangerous as a mixed episode.
