yes, sometimes it can helped chemically. But hardly ever it is just chemistry.

there may be correlation between serotonin or whatever levels and depression... but is it a causation? Are we depressed because of serotonin levels or are the serotonin levels out of whack because we are depressed.... after all.... all of our thoughts are chemical... but I prefer to believe we are much more than neurons and hormones.

Spirituality helped me and it helped thousands of others... so why discount it? And spirituality does not have to be only about deities... but about things beyond ourselves....

Depression is a very very complex condition and cannot be simplified in one statement. It is not purely medical disease, though. For many... it may not be medical at all.
