Not all medications are addictive...is there a way to talk to the Dr. and change meds so that they are effective as well as non-addictive? For example, Vicodin is addictive, but darvocet is not. I took care of an old lady who had chronic pain and was addicted to vicodin. We switched her over to darvocet but it wasn't easy...it took time and she wasn't happy about it.
