Yes, it sounds like you have an obsession with food, whether you eat too much or not enough. Not just binging will ruin your life, continuing with the split, where you don't eat in public and others see that you are underweight (that you don't eat in public is not what they are commenting on; they comment on how you look; they might think you are unusual for not eating in public but if you look approximately the right weight to them they would be commenting on your problem of not being able to eat in public, not about your health/weight/anorexia).
I would talk to someone about not being secretive with your eating, like an alcoholic is with drinking. If you feel you binge you need to talk to someone now. If others don't think you eat enough, you need to talk to someone now. What you understand is at odds with what others see/understand and how to get better balance is what you should talk to someone about.
