You didn't say what it is that you do. Martial arts is a good skill, but probably very hard to make money with it unless you can get into movie stunts or personal protection or something like that, which would be hard and maybe not what you want to do with your skills. Would working for someone else be an option for you? Having a reliable paycheck and benefits would be a lot less stress than running your own business. I thought I could run my own business. Managed not to lose money this year at least, but it's a good thing my husband has a job. It's not easy.

I guess I don't know enough of the information I would need in order to advise you. I don't know what your options are. What do you think you would like to do if you made a change? Plenty of peole change careers after age 40. No reason you can't. You have more than 25 years left to work at your career - that's more than enough time to make it worth finding something you want to be doing.

Maybe trying a different counselor would be a good idea. It quite often takes more than one try to find one you are comfortable with and who is helpful to you. You might give the p-doc another shot too. If you aren't comfortable about the medication they recommend (you didn't say what it was and for what condition), talk to them about it and see if they can come up with something you can follow through with.

Good luck to you!
