I don't know if my experience is useful to you, or not, but I faced something similar not very long ago. My pharmacist told me that if the approval came through within a week of filling the prescription, he would give me my money back, and process the drug cost the regular way. In effect, I loaned them the money for a couple of days, until the red tape could get sorted out. Maybe you could ask your pharmacist about that?

What would be way cool is having central places where drugs that aren't needed could be collected from those who won't need them, and used to cover people in your situation. Like the penny dishes some places have at the checkout counter. I know, too many concerns about safety, etc......but I bet you I've got some Effexor around here somewhere, and I couldn't tolerate it. It seems like a shame that it will go to waste.
