Although it is often caused by psychological issues, there is a huge link between ED and poorly controlled diabetes. And, diabetes is on the rise, (no pun intended....) and especially type 2 diabetes, if poorly treated or undiagnosed, could very easily be causing complications for the age group of men that these ED pills are developed for.
So, yes, you
should talk to your doctor. But you
should not only talk to your doctor about an ED pill! You should be tested for diabetes, and learn to get it under control, however that may be.
ED in diabetes is a form of neuropothy, which is damage done to the nerves by having too high of a blood glucose level for too long. It is a major concern that most people don't realize. They think, "Oh I might loose a foot or a leg." Doctors may not even bring it up.
Diabetes is just like mental illness, actually, in the way many people treat it. They go into denial. They say, "I don't want to change my lifestyle, so I'll just ignore it. It won't be that bad." But, diabetes eats away at your enitre body. Your nerves, your blood vessels, your heart, your kidneys, your liver, your eyes, your teeth, and... well... your ability to perform.
I work in a diabetes education center and we're always trying to think of ways to get people to be more serious about taking control. (Because you can.) And I personally feel that if you tell a man "your penis will stop working," that is a huge motivation! Forget losing a food or going blind.... no more sex!
Even if you don't have diabetes, it is a sign of something. So you may not need a pill to fix it, but it may be a sign of something else.
