One night I saw a deer come out of my woods & I opened my sliding door & walked out on the deck......the deer heard me but hadn't seen me yet. It made the most interesting blowing sound with it's nose.....until it finally turned & went back into my woods. I went to the internet (where else to we get every answer to the questions we ask?) & found out that noise is what they make when they are warning other deer about a danger THEY DON'T SEE. They make a regular vocal call when they do see danger....much different from when they don't see the danger.
Came home late one night & drive my truck into the driveway....my lights shined down my field & into the woods....standing right in front of my woods were 2 huge bucks......didn't count the points....but they were definitely huge. Another night I drove up in front of my house & my lights shined into my other field that I hadn't mowed yet.....there laying down in the middle of a pile of brush was a doe.....just kept laying there & I wanted it to move because I didn't want my dogs chasing her when they got out of the truck.
Was wondering how your horse riding experience went after the last time we posted several weeks ago. I absolutely love riding in my english saddle. Remember you said your new lady friend rides in eventing. Eventing is great as it throws together cross country, dressage, & stadium jumping which gives the horse & rider a lot of different experiences....definitely NOT Boring. I have a 17.3 hand high thoroughbred I'm waiting to bring to my farm. My mare gave birth to her 6 years ago. She was just at training age when I moved here & didn't want to take pot luck with trainers who I didn't know so left her where she was for training.....then I ran out of money to bring her here. That bonding at birth was something I couldn't give up to sell her......she was & is a very special horse with a very special personality....even though she is huge compared to me at 5'2".....she's my gentle giant.
I ride everyone else's horses right now....it's good experience, but falling off & fracturing my back earlier this year was definitely unplanned. One of those spooks & bolt manuvers with the horse & I thought I better bale just in case the horse was planning on accelerating across the alfalfa field. Bad choice on my part it seems
Hope your ride was a bit more uneventful than that ride of mine was.

THe riding was very good. Had only trotted before and my girl was getting tired of power walking so she said just to go when we got to a hill. So i brought him up to a trot and he broke into a cantor. Instead of pulling in the reins like a had on past rides because of fear I just went with the rythm took the hill like it was nothing. she was so impressed she said i can go trail riding with her and her mare anytime
