"Web designing" and "chemicals" are too vague to get behind and stay behind. "Doing something in the field of chemicals" means you should be studying the general field but also be keeping your eye out for what excites you and noting it. Do you know this old joke?

I don't think you have gotten far enough to be "stuck". Maybe figure out a real-world project (do web design for a chemistry group on campus, for money :-) and see if you can get practical with your interests, see the real "use" of your studies?
