So I see a therapist (he is a LCSW) and I have talked with him about going to see someone to get medication. Today he gave me a list with 4 names of psychiatrists. I never go into anything blindly so I googled them and I'm not crazy about any of them. The only 2 of the 4 that are so so.. well my number one choice is further away than I would like to drive. My #2 choice has an office closer but mixed reviews and I'm not sure if him and I would be a good fit. I don't want to spend time calling around and going to see people if I think it isn't going to work. I have a hard enough time as is. Should I make my best effort to see someone from my therapists list or can I just choose someone on my own? What relationship do my therapist and psychiatrist need to have, or do they need to have one? I don't know how it all works. I was at the end of my therapy session when I got the list, and I'm really nervous about meeting with someone new but I know it is something I need to do. Any advice would be awesome!
