I agree with Sunangel. I never cared that I coudn't sleep or that I had to get up early for surgery since I'd be knocked out and then could sleep as needed afterward. I wouldn't think that they would cause mania or depression but since you've already gone through surgery by now, I'll keep my fingers crossed that all is well.
