You mentioned that you're always being "put down" and he says hurtful things, etc. What kind of a "friend" is that? A TRUE friend won't do these things. I certainly wouldn't want a relationship with a friend like that -- I'd always be waiting for the other shoe to drop.  You shouldn't have to walk on egg shells in a friendship. I think I'd just let this one go -- and try to find friends who don't treat you like that. You deserve better than this.
