Hi damienV.
Depression is a terrible thing, just don't give up the hope life can get better.
I don't know what you've tried, but the following are major things that can help:
1. Medications. Find the right one for you.
2. Therapy. A good warm therapist can make a big difference.
3. Self-help/self-improvement. Reading a couple of good self-help books could change your life.
4. Exercise. This was a big one for me. Made me feel so much better and confident.
If you have the energy, I suggest doing them all 4 together at the same time. I did that for a while and got good results in overcoming my PTSD and social anxiety.
There's this quote I like... "Keep swimming the bat; keep trying to hit the ball; you might miss many balls, but at some point you'll hit a homerun." That's how life is sometimes. You just keep swinging without hitting. But you have to keep swinging to hit a ball. And at some point after swinging a lot you WILL hit a homerun. So please don't give up hope and keep trying new approaches and methods.
