It makes sense that you are confused by this because it doesn't make any sense-- except it is a window into why people who take advantage of others often end up being caught. Can't keep your lies straight, and self interest (i.e. bankruptcy) doesn't allow people to really think ahead.

I am so sorry that this happened to you and I hope you get the validation and support that you need through this process. I am also so glad that you are pursuing this officially.
