Yesterday was my brother in-law's 7th birthday and no one remembered but my husband and I. He came over to my house in the morning like always and I opened up the door singing "Happy Birthday" and he didn't even believe me that it was his birthday. It took all day convincing him it was, in fact, his birthday. So my father-in-law comes to pick him up late and doesn't say a word, so I secretly remind him it's his birthday, and he just shrugs. I found out just now that the poor kid got to pick the toppings on the pizza last night and that was his birthday present. Is it wrong of me to be so mad at my in-laws about this? I know they have 8 kids, but forgetting a birthday and not even getting him a present? He's old enough now to remember that his older brother just got a new wii for his birthday, but he gets to pick pizza.... I'm just really sad for him. Can anyone help me understand his parents' perspective on this? How do you get so indifferent to your child's birthday?
