My rehab is kind of an orphan child when it comes to AA. It's one of only 2 treatment centers that are not 12 step based, and I think it's the only treatment centre where our local AA's treatment committee doesn't put on meetings. I'd say about a 3'rd of people who go through treatment there do attend AA or NA but we're definitely a minority.
Anyways, last week in my aftercare meeting the 2 of us who do attend AA were talking about AA and suggesting it to a woman who we think it might help, and were giving her suggestions about meetings in her area. So it occurred to me that it would be useful if the hospital had meeting books to give out to people who were interested.
So I raised the issue with my home group, and they've heard me talk a lot about Branson (my rehab) and how good I think the program is, and they agreed to donate a bunch of meeting books and other AA pamphlets to the hospital. I'm picking them up from the intergroup office tomorrow and will take them in with me when I go in for my group on Fri.
