In your poll I selected the 'Only with supervision' option, but I think supervision means more than just being there (see below). I think that an attitude along the lines of 'You feel that? That's a knife. You blink wrong and all the kings horses and all the kings men won't be able to put you back together again' might be warranted, Though the example is perhaps a bit extreme (then again maybe not).

I think that it is important to recognize that because the parents are physically there doesn't mean they are There, You know?
Studies have shown that most people most of the time don't pay much attention to their surrounding and are especially unlikely to notice thing out of the ordinary, or that they didn't expect as long as those things are subtle.
