I believe it is both like others have said. Personally, I have a very selective memory in general and it was like this before I was put on medication. It's like there are certain memories from my past that I can experience just as if I were there, but at the same time, there's a fog smothering other memories.

I will say that my memory was "sharper" before being medicated but that also came with more chaos.
