Hi Jennifer,

I'm assuming that TDI is the same type of thing as California's State Disability Insurance. If so, you'll need to have a written statement from your doctor that he/she believes that you are unemployable due to your mental condition. Then, you have to apply for the disability. The review process can take several weeks, at least it does here, and the letter from your doctor doesn't guarantee anything. If you are awarded payments, they will require periodic reviews from your doctor to see if your condition has improved to the point that you become employable. Also, your State Disability Dept may require that you be looked at by a doctor of their choosing to make sure the he/she agree with the findings of your doctor. Anyway you look at it, it's not a quick and simple process.

Remember I'm basing this on what happens in California. But I think that all states are pretty much the same when it comes to things like this.

I wish you all the best of luck.

Greg
