You realize that women are more likely than men to be impoverished in the U.S. And that 30% of people in poverty are actually children.
I don't really care if it's biological or socially instilled into children, just kind of sucks that there's a good chance I'll be living around the poverty line if I don't get married, especially if I have children.

Hi Feiticeira, I've got a son, and I'm living on the poverty line. But the poverty line in this country isn't nearly as bad as it is in other countries. I eat most days, and when I don't it's by choice, my son gets three meals a day, has shoes, clothing, can afford books. We do quite well despite everything. I don't know what it's like in the US, but in the UK it is possible to survive on the poverty line. It can be pretty tough, but it is doable.
