Hi confusedcameleon and welcome to PC.
I think I may be a lot like you in that I need to be understood and will go over the same thing over and over again until I feel I've explained it enough. Drives my husband up a wall. But I just have to get it all out. Sometimes I find journaling helps purge some of that emotion and work out the different aspects of it in my mind. Then when I do present my feelings to my husband, I can do it in a more controlled, to the point fashion and it seems to be received better.
I would invite you to post an introduction in the New Member forum, just to let the community know a little about you. It's a wonderful community and the bipolar forum is very active. Like any "family", we all have our quirks and we don't always agree, but it's a good group.
