As Tomi said, this person is probably trying to make herself look good at your expense. The important thing is that you know what the truth is. If this person lies, it will catch up with her eventually. There's an old saying that you've probably heard, One bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch. Don't let the actions of this one lady ruin your ability to trust everyone. There are some truly good people out there that are worth getting to know, and will help you if you ask. Some will offer to help you even if you don't ask. But it's important that you remember that not everyone is like this lady.

There's not many things more special than having people in your life that you can trust and care about. And you are worth having all the best things in life. And you can take that to the bank because I said so!
