I don't think they'll put you on a psych ward for panic attacks - no one has ever suggested this should be the case for me, and I've suffered really badly with them. Hopefully, through therapy (and maybe medication if you choose) you'll learn to better handle those panicky feelings so they're not so overwhelming. You'll get more out of therapy if you can be open and honest with your therapist, but I know it's hard, especially at first.
