I know some children, teens and adults who have no mental disorder but still refer to their self as we. At first I thought it to be a very strange thing considering where I am from no one referred to their self as "we".
then I started listening very close to how adults talk to children and other adults. I found that where I live and work right now its quite common and is just a learned habit from the way people are now raising their children..
when reprimanding children hitting isnt usually done. usually the parent says "we dont do that, its not acceptable this is your warning"
treatment providers ask their clients "how are we today"
there are many instances I have found like this that promotes the habit of referring to one self as "we"
maybe this is the case where you are. you may have been raised with this newer standard of raising children that has been in affect for about 15-20 yrs so maybe its just a learned habit.
if so like any habit it can be unlearned.
