I don't believe risperdal is a mood stabilizer, and that is what is need to prevent the "up and down." I think it is an anti-psychotic? maybe they find some work as mood stabilizers to, but apparently not for you. You might try lithium, depakote, or lamictal (which has worked wonders for me, and I have bipolar II as well). I hope you find a way to get stabilized since it can be exhausting to cycle so much.
