It is a difficult situation to be in when the ex won't let go. I hope he leaves you be, but if
he doesn't then a restraining order may be the answer if you cannot be freinds' at all?

But you're wise in regard to your other friend and it's very wise to work on yourself rather than getting into a relationship too quickly.

If you can get the kids together and get them motivated, that is a wonderful ability and Maybe you're right about getting them together and getting them talking? It sounds right and I think it is the right thing to do, but don't invest too much of yourself in it if you are feeling vulnerable, they do have to take responsibility for themselves too.
