SilverSilence77,

Are there other transportation possibilities for you?? Perhaps bus services to shopping centers? Or joining a group for transportation to different places? Don't know if you're on SSI, but if so, there are options that could make it easier for you.

If you aren't disabled, then buses or asking other friends for an occasional ride to the store would be best for you.

Either way, I would recommend keeping your half of grocery money to yourself, to ensure that you have money for groceries each month. Groceries aren't cheap! The last thing you should have to worry about is how you're going to eat ~ without food or money for the month. There are also county resources for low-income residents. Not just food assistance $, but there are places to go and pick up food once/month, Salvation Army has food assistance, local churches also help provide meals and/or groceries.

Best wishes to you!
