The online site I found suggested using silicone on the rubber strips but when I went to Advance the guy working there was unable to find a product that was only silicone and did NOT contain petroleum products. (Petroleum products damage rubber which is why you should not use vaseline with a condom).

So I researched and found that canola oil has one of the lowest freeze points of oils and now my car smells like popcorn in the winter.
