Hi, Tosspot, thank you for sharing your dream again. It does sound complicated and like it has a lot to say.

I think there are some universal symbols in there; "cars" are our selves/physical bodies out in the world moving around. One is supposed to be in one's driver's seat when one dreams of cars, not in the backseat or just "watching" from a passenger seat, etc. That you did not have your car and went to your ex-boyfriend's and got his gun, etc. to me, sounds like he and what he is doing is more important to you and you and what you are doing? And you'd like to change that (the gun and threatening to kill him for real this time) but then you make up with him. . .

The red and orange paint ties the two scenes together for me; I immediately thought of blood, violence, etc. and then your father came into it and having to wash it off before he saw. . . I found that very interesting in light of your abusive ex-boyfriend being the center of the first scene. I feel like your boyfriend and father are "related" by the paint.

If this were my dream, I'd get really creative and think the ex-boyfriend was chasing me from the first scene to the second to get me "back" to considering my father and his influence on me.

I don't know what the blue stuff leaking from the walls might be; my first thought was "blue-blooded" and I wondered if your father was a stickler for his ancestry or thought he was better than others or wanted you to be a certain way and you did not want to have anything to do with that and rejected whatever it was. Too, water is "blue" and water in dreams can mean emotions and you might be feeling as if you are being swamped with emotions?

Here's a good page talking a little about cars in dreams: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art12197.asp

Here's one about guns: http://www.unclesirbobby.org.uk/dreamdictionarygun.php

And here's on about color in dreams: http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamthemes/colors.htm

I tried to find you a few different dream interpretation pages so you can explore, see if anything strikes a chord for you
