I'm reading George Orwell's
1984 which brings surveillance up to a whole different game: "Telescreens" (must be like a TV) in your own HOME! Big Brother can see and hear you.

There are hidden microphones around the city, human spies following you, you don't dare show emotion in your face or in your tone of voice against THEM.
The book was published in the 1940's, and Orwell was ahead of his time. I guess he predicted life was going to be like that in 1984. Well, it wasn't, but it is now....in not quite the same ways.
