I am glad you are sending this woman your thanks for her mothering. Please don't worry about the children. As for a gift. I go with a plant, postage stamps if she's old, gift certificate to restaurant if she is old, stationary with a beautiful saying on it. Let her know and it's great for the kids to know how you feel about her as well. Good luck
