I am guessing you are talking about "negative" emotions ? Emotions can range in intensity and duration. That old adage, "This too shall pass !", is pretty right on.
As for coping... well for me it depends on the type of emotion I am dealing with. If it is anger... I tend to hold it in way too much til I vent by talking with someone or God if no one is available to "listen". That helps me.
Anyway I agree that finding the best coping skill is hard sometimes.
