Oh Simora, I underrstnad your pain. I received a degree in the Social Sciences, in 2008 and have not been able to get my foot in the door of my industry either. The only jobs available here full time are restaurant work in fast food or placement job by employment agencies that claim I am overqualified....too educated.
I had even thought of returning to universsity to get a second degree in Social Work, but they say I still need three courses, each costing $500. For three of them it would be $1500 and I don't have even $500. If the courses were available all at the same time, I could take them as a part-time student with student loans. However the courses are not offered all in the same semester.
my two adult sons are hte ones paying my rent and bills (we all live together) However this is humiliating also that I have to rely on my children. They are supposed to rely on me.
My medical background also puts restrictions on what jobs I can take. Due to epilepsy, I cannot drive. The inability to drive crosses off many jobs in this area. My seizures are not severe enough though, to qualify for disability. I truly understand how frustrating your situation can be. Especially with chidlren depending on you. I have a friend with a degree in nursing and she is working at a call centre.
I hope you can find something soon that you like. I am on unemployment and job seeking too so I knw it can be very discouraging.
