Hey there,
When I saw the phrase "I have been told I have false beliefs.." I immediately saw red!!! No one should be told their beliefs are "false," it's extremely invalidating. Even if you recognize that the negative thoughts are creating difficulties for you, it's no one's right to tell you they are "false," or "true," "right," or "wrong." No wonder you didn't like the T you had during CBT. I am in the field, and while CBT has a lot of research behind it and can do wonders for people, it's also up to how it's delivered by the T and ultimately the relationship between the T and the patient that determines how much it helps. I am glad people here have been supportive of you! I hope that you get set up with a better T that is a more suitable match for you. Hang in there!
