I don't know if I can effectively tell this story without both of the expressions of me and my t being seen-but at the end of one of our sessions while referring to silliness I had going on with my class, my t commented-"That's crazy!" I looked at her very seriously and said, "well, yeah," and referenced myself with my hands. She looked mortified thinking she had offended me and started apologizing-you know how sensitive those pdocs and t's can be about the "crazy" word! I immediately laughed about it with her after she realized I wasn't really offended and had taken her comment in the way it was meant.
This was the same session that she already had accidentally burst out laughing at a comment in my journal-I like to write funny commentary along the way, and I was glad that she "got" my joke. After she realized that she had laughed spontaneously, she apologized for laughing. Personally, I believe she became a bit more human to me that day because she could let go enough to laugh.
