Whom did you buy the book off? Private seller or through an online /store like amazon. A store is easier to deal with...

And how did you pay for it? As far as I know credit cards and PayPal have definitely protections as in you can get your money back through them (it can take ages). In the UK some bank cards have similar protections.

Meanwhile would you be able to get the book from a library to start you off, or talk to your tutor about it? They are usually very helpful, especially when someone actually wants to do work.
