Niko,
My ex is quite bipolar, but holds an RN, a position of MAJOR trust and responsibility at a major hospital, and is starting her clinicals for her MSN. Her employer is quite aware of the situation, the health system insurance even sent her to one of the best mental health clinics on the planet for 5 weeks a while back (her department's medical advisor even had to approve the hospitalization).
I might ask, how did the topic of your health come up? I don't think they have the rigtht to ask these questions. (But of course, I'm not an attorney).
I would say, don't freak out...don't give up. On the practical side, you may want to transfer to another program--these folks will be gunning for you now, I'm afraid. You don't need that kind of pressure. If you want to stay, you'll probably need a lawyer...but that won't make things any more pleasant!
Good luck, I hope things work out OK--you're too smart and too good-hearted not to be helping others!
