Did you try wearing a sling for a bit? That will force you to really not use it. Although you need to make sure to take it out and move it every once in awhile to avoid frozen shoulder.
Can you lift you are above your head? Or when you hold it straight out sideways, can you hold it level there for awhile? I tore part of my rotator cuff a year and a half ago and I couldn't do either of that. Although I think if you did that you would want to go to the doctor cuz it is pretty painful. I would suggest going though and figuring it out if its been a few weeks. Good Luck!
