I don't know about your situation or which lawyer you talked to but I received my approval for disability when I was 26. There are other people who can adovacate for you as well, my social worker helped me alot. Mostly social security looks at your mental history, were you ever commited to a hospital, did you seek psych help things like that. Try to deal with your local SS office whenever possible its easier to get someone on the phone or see in person. Be very prompt and organized with your paperwork when they request it or ask you to call them. Keep all records pertaining to your case. you can also appeal any ruling. My best advice is that you find people who really know the social security application process. The social workers for your county should be able to help you or at least steer you towards somebody like a non-profit organization. They might to able to help with your immediate financial needs as well.

Hope this helps.
