No matter what on line group I am in there are always conflicts with other members that don't involve me - be it a misunderstanding or someone spreading gossip or someone encountering someone that they thought they could trust 100% in and later found out they could not trust that person.... So many reasons in on line support groups that give way for people to at times not feel safe in the group.
Its just a part of life that not everyone and everything is going to be peachy keen 100% of the time in real life and its real people behind thse computer screnes and posts so
Instead of letting someone elses experiences with their personal life, the website and / or members of the on line group bring me down to the point where I start questioning my own safety when encountering a post that someone else does not at this moment feel safe I -
1. remember that the posts are that persons feelings based on what is going on with them at that moment that they posted
2. I look at my own experience with the site and group members and base my sense of safety when in the group my only this - my experiences and not based on someone elses post from their experiencing a problem.
3. Then I give help and comfort where I can
4 then because ultimately each indiviual member of on line support groups is responsible for doing what they need to do in order for them to feel safe here (be it take a break, pm the mods and administrators, post what they feel, pm a friend and so on) I trust the person who is having a hard time will make sure they are doing ok and will take the steps so that they will soon be feeling safe here once again.
In my experience PC is extremely safe and is the safest place on line that I have been to yet and I have been a part of on line groups for 5 years now.
Hang in there (((((((((Fuzzy)))))))
