my father used to laugh all the time. go to him with a problem and . . . he'd laugh like it was so cute. it really turned me and my brothers off. in retrospect, my dad was an orphan and he had deep needs to be accepted, liked and loved. his laugh was his trademark and his cousins, to this day - over 35 years after his death, still remark how they miss (and loved) his laugh. so, it's not necessarily a bad thing at appropriate times. some people believe that to laugh at your problems is a gift as it's a defense against depression. in my dad's case, it made him well-liked by almost everyone (except his children). it certainly helped him to survive his difficult life.

sometimes, it is very important to edit our reactions to things. the best way to edit is to deeply listen to what others are saying and then, before laughing, decide whether it's appropriate for the situation. it's similar to biting your tongue when people say things that may trigger you. think about it. all the best to you!
